MUTILATOR
MUTILATOR is a series of monochrome self-portraits. It uses photography to explore the body with a focus on movement and deconstructing and distorting the figure. The work also contains a level of queerness (as an underlying theme to all my work, but much more literally here, as I am visibly trans in these photos). Transphobes love to say that trans people are "disfiguring" or "mutilating" our bodies, so I took that literally in this series by creating something which leaves the viewer unsure of what they are seeing.
MUTILATOR is an experiment in representing the body and how movement and cropping can impact the message of an image.
